Interviews

Greenfluencer, adventurer and environmentalist Margarita Samsonova says there are ways to beat the blues

This morning I spoke to a woman in my semi fancy hotel in Mindelo, Cape Verde. I was taking refuge from numerous attempts of finding the right boat to cross the Atlantic Ocean with the Whale Passage Mission. During the casual breakfast chit chat she shared she is working for a council in the Netherlands—youth, mental health, fighting depression. I asked her why kids as young as 14 are depressed. The answer? Social media. I instantly was teleported back 17 years ago, remembering myself playing and losing in all the looks and validation games—back then we didn’t even have Meta yet… and now things are more serious.

“Opening up to listening to nature offers a different vibration of consciousness.”

I shared a few inspirational bits about how I talk to plants and animals. Her eyes lit up. I explained, the depth of new realm conversations is hiding in recognition that nature is alive. It lives in detachment from our own “grandiose intelligence” and opening up to listening to a different vibration of consciousness. 🌬️

1. Talk.
Yes, you can ask a plant a hot, boiling “what’s the point of…” question and it will respond, or you can just observe. The trick is this—can you open your mind enough and forget about the world’s problems even for a little bit? This is something you can practice at home, on a forest walk, on your next vacation.

2. Be Aware.
When you carve out time to sit with nature you understand there is no fear, there is no danger. Nature is our force and source. All we should consider is how to prolong its life so our children would live with less stress than we do.

3. Go unplugged with wildlife.
Meditating with whales! This is something we are working towards now: working with wildlife communicators, collecting the ocean and whale frequencies, working with people creating dream scapes and sound experiences for people to receive their environmental calls, jobs and missions from whales. They need us, yet they are chill. There is no panic. Ever.

4. Look below the surface.
Plug your eyes into the water next time you are on the boat. The water has memory, natural intelligence. When you focus on it, you receive a direct upload—a code, if you will—that you don’t “understand”, yet it changes you. Just like social media and doom scrolling—here, however, you receive an upload of natural healing, cleansing and environmental love.

There are many wars we fight simultaneously on this planet but the main one happens in our head—that thought and belief that we have to do something NOW.
