We spoke to Lucy Crook, Managing Partner of Fantastic Frank Lisbon, about Portugal’s thriving creative scene, the value of curation, and why more international buyers are turning to the brand.
What makes Fantastic Frank different from a traditional real estate agency?
Founded in Stockholm in 2015 on the idea that real estate could be done differently, Fantastic Frank is driven by the motto “Inspire to Buy”, combining visual storytelling with a highly personalised boutique approach. Instead of trying to list everything, our focus has always been on carefully curating architecturally interesting and design-led homes, presented through an editorial lens instead of traditional property marketing.
In Portugal, we’ve spent the past five years building a portfolio for people who care deeply about design. The approach is intentionally selective. For us, the question is often: would this home feel at home in an interior design magazine?
Why has Portugal been such a strong fit for the brand?
Portugal has an exciting design and architecture scene, shaped by both a new generation of Portuguese creatives and an increasingly international community, something that feels very aligned with Fantastic Frank.
Many of us in the team relocated to Portugal ourselves, so we understand both the practical and emotional side of making a move here. Lisbon has become a meeting point for creatives, architects and founders, while maintaining a strong local identity.
“Fantastic Frank seems deeply connected to Lisbon’s creative community.”
What are international buyers looking for today?
Many people arrive with a clear vision of how they want to live, but once they start searching, they’re overwhelmed by volume and inconsistency. That’s where curation becomes valuable.
Increasingly, clients come to us for our Personal Property Finder service, where we act as their exclusive advisor and search the entire market on their behalf, including off-market and pre-launch opportunities.
Our expertise lies in recognising great design. It can be a studio apartment in Lisbon or a €20 million palacete. The common thread is inspiring architecture, considered materials and spaces that resonate emotionally.
“We’ve spent the past five years building a portfolio for people who care deeply about design.”
Fantastic Frank seems deeply connected to Lisbon’s creative community.
Through our showroom in Santos-o-Velho, our regular Fantastic Friday drinks and collaborations with local brands, architects and designers, we try to create a platform that showcases Portugal’s creative scene.
Today, we’re the most followed real estate brand in Portugal on Instagram, with many people coming to us as much for inspiration and discovery as for property.
