How did Draft-In Homes start, and what was the original vision?

Draft-In Homes was founded in October 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, by three longtime friends: Pedro Gonçalves, Vasco Torrete, and Ricardo Cupido.

Pedro, an engineer, and Vasco, an architect, had already been working together for over a decade through their construction and design company, Draft-In Projects and Construction. Their technical expertise and shared vision for quality and design formed a strong foundation for what would come next.

The turning point came when Ricardo, with a background in management, joined the partnership. Together, they identified an opportunity to elevate the real estate experience beyond traditional transactional brokerage into a fully curated, client-centric service.

From the outset, the vision was to combine deep local market expertise with a highly personalised advisory approach for discerning buyers who value discretion, efficiency, and strategic guidance. Rather than simply listing properties, the company acts as a trusted partner throughout the entire acquisition journey.

This approach evolved into the creation of a cohesive group integrating construction, design, estate agency, and more recently, Draft-In Finance, specialising in credit brokerage, allowing the company to offer a seamless, end-to-end property experience.

Earning the SCORING TOP 10 award consistently reflects a disciplined focus on performance, client satisfaction, and market intelligence. What differentiates Draft-In Homes is its ability to merge data-driven insights with a bespoke service model.

The firm prioritises quality over volume, maintains a carefully curated portfolio, and invests heavily in understanding each client’s objectives.

How do you tailor your approach to different clients, especially international buyers?

Each client engagement begins with a detailed profiling process that goes beyond budget and location. It includes lifestyle preferences, investment goals, risk tolerance, and long-term plans.

For international buyers, guidance on legal frameworks, tax implications, residency options, and local market dynamics is integrated into the service. Communication is adapted to different time zones and cultural expectations, ensuring clarity and confidence at every stage.

How do you see the Portuguese property market evolving for affluent buyers?

Demand is increasingly driven by lifestyle factors such as security, climate, international accessibility, and quality of life, alongside traditional investment considerations.

Key locations like Lisbon, Cascais, and the Algarve remain highly attractive. There is also growing interest in emerging areas that offer greater exclusivity and long-term value.

Looking ahead, Draft-In Homes expects increased selectivity among buyers, a stronger emphasis on turnkey and design-led properties, and continued international demand with more sophisticated due diligence.

The company has expanded its presence across Portugal, with offices in the Algarve, Alentejo (Grândola and Évora), Cascais, Sintra (Quinta da Beloura), Caldas da Rainha, and Leiria, with a forthcoming presence in Nazaré.
